Why Valor

Tax season, minus the guesswork.

Know your fee first.

Fees are flat and based on complexity. We confirm your price before any work begins, and it only changes if the scope of your return changes. If something moves you into a different category, we tell you and get your approval first.

Your refund stays yours.

We never charge based on the size of your refund. Refunds are sent directly to you. We never receive, endorse, or deposit a client refund.

Connected to your plan.

A tax return says a lot about your finances. For planning clients, what we see at tax time feeds right into the work we do together the rest of the year.

Pricing · 2026 Tax Returns

Clear pricing. No surprises.

Your fee is based on the complexity of your return and the amount of preparation required. We’ll review your situation and confirm your price before any work begins.

Having self-employment income, investments, or itemized deductions does not automatically make a return more expensive.

STANDARD INDIVIDUAL RETURN

$250

For straightforward individual returns

  • Federal Form 1040
  • One state return
  • W-2, retirement, and Social Security income
  • Interest, dividends, and typical brokerage activity
  • Standard or itemized deductions
  • Dependents and common tax credits
  • A straightforward Schedule C or other self-employment activity
  • Electronic filing and a completed-return review

A return can still qualify as Standard even if you are self-employed or have investments. Pricing is based on the amount of preparation and review required, not simply the forms included on your return.

EXPANDED INDIVIDUAL RETURN

$400 starting at

For returns requiring additional preparation or review

  • Multiple businesses or more involved self-employment activity
  • Rental property income and expenses
  • Income reported on a Schedule K-1

  • Significant cryptocurrency activity
  • Complex investment transactions or cost-basis issues
  • Stock compensation
  • Prior-year issues affecting the current return
  • Records requiring additional organization or reconciliation
  • Other situations requiring added preparation or review

Final pricing is confirmed before preparation begins based on the scope and complexity of your return.

What your fee covers

  • Preparation of your return
  • One review meeting or call before filing
  • Electronic filing
  • A PDF copy of your completed return
  • An extension, if your documents arrive after our deadline

What it doesn’t cover

  • Audit representation
  • IRS or state notices received after filing
  • Advice on tax years we didn’t prepare
  • Business entity returns

INDIVIDUAL RETURNS ONLY

We don’t prepare partnership, S corporation, C corporation, estate, trust, or other entity returns. K-1 income from those entities may still be included on an individual return, but we do not prepare the entity return itself.

Questions

Common questions

Do you charge based on the size of my refund?

No. Our fees are flat and based on the complexity of your return.

What if my return is more complex than expected?

If your documents show something that moves you into a different category, we will tell you and get your approval before we continue. Any difference in fee is due before work resumes.

Do I need to be a financial planning client?

No. Tax preparation is its own service with its own engagement letter. Anyone with an individual return is welcome to reach out.

Do you prepare business returns?

We prepare individual returns only. That includes self-employment income on Schedule C, rental property, and K-1 income reported on your personal return. We don’t prepare partnership, S corporation, C corporation, estate or trust returns.

When is payment due?

Payment is due in full before we begin any work on your return. Once your fee is confirmed and paid, we get started.

What if my documents come in late?

Complete files received after our document deadline will be put on extension. The extension is included in your fee.

What happens if I get an IRS notice after filing?

Your fee covers preparation, review and filing. Help with notices received after filing, and audit representation, are separate services. Reach out and we can talk through your options.
